What 6HA Removes
The privacy footprint of a typical photograph is wider than most people expect. 6HA targets the specific fields that carry identifying or location-revealing information across the common image formats.
For JPEG files, 6HA removes the EXIF block, where camera make, camera model, lens model, serial numbers, ISO, exposure settings, date and time, and GPS coordinates live. The IPTC and XMP records, which carry author name, copyright statement, captions, keywords, software history, and edit trails, come out as well. The ICC color profile, embedded thumbnails which sometimes preserve a pre-crop view of the image, JFIF comments, and any leftover application-specific markers all join the same exit. The cleaned JPEG keeps the actual image data byte for byte, so the visual quality of the photograph remains exactly as you encoded it.
For PNG files, 6HA preserves the structural chunks that paint the image, namely IHDR, PLTE, IDAT, tRNS, and IEND, and discards every ancillary chunk that may carry text comments, software signatures, embedded XMP, color profile blocks, modification timestamps, physical pixel dimensions, or any other auxiliary record. The cleaned PNG renders identically to the original, with the metadata silently absent.
For WebP files, 6HA walks the RIFF container and drops the EXIF, XMP, and ICCP chunks, then updates the VP8X feature flags so that downstream tools recognize the cleaned file as a complete and consistent WebP. The image stream itself remains untouched.
For GIF, BMP, and any other supported format, 6HA falls back to a canvas-based pipeline that decodes the image, redraws the pixels onto a fresh canvas, and re-encodes the result. The fallback path produces a visually identical image with no surviving metadata, since the canvas pipeline carries only pixel data forward.

After delivery, your browser handles the file reading, the byte-level parsing, the re-encoding where needed, and the ZIP packaging for multi-file batches.
